Connie Mayer was born
and raised on a farm in northern Michigan with seven siblings. She currently
lives with her husband and two cats Curley and Moe, in southeastern
Michigan. I guess you could say she comes by her creative gift naturally.
Her father was a well-known wood carver and many aunts and uncles also
are very artistic.
Her background was in fashion retailing; selling, management and buying
and also interior design. Unable to continue working for many years,
battling the symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome, she looked for something
she could do at home in her own time. It took one visit to a friend
in Kansas, who was also designing jewelry at the time, and she was hooked.
Since recovering from her illness this has become her passion. Knowing
she can’t possibly wear everything she creates herself, she decided
to share her designs with all of you.
Connie’s custom designed jewelry pieces are a unique combination
of style, shape and texture. She especially enjoys working with Bali
sterling silver and blending silver and gold together, bringing out
the basic beauty of the crystals, stones and precious metals. She keeps
her designs classic and timeless which is a reflection of herself.
Connie has been actively involved with interacting and educating others
suffering from the ravages of chronic fatigue syndrome. A very misunderstood
but real illness, it changes every aspect of your life. She also helps
out annually with the Ribbons of Pink Foundation, a non-profit organization
educating young women about breast cancer, started by the daughter of
her long-time friend in Kansas who was diagnosed at age 27, four years
ago. Web site: http://www.ribbonsofpink.org
